Tutorials - Clearing Your System Cache

This was something I discovered a while back when I accidently downloaded the update for Crystal Quest which made the achievements almost impossible to unlock. After investigating this online, someone told me that the way to cure my problem was to clear the system cache of my hard drive, clearing the update and allowing me to play the original version of the game, albeit offline.

As well as clearing game updates (for whatever reason), you can also use this trick if you're 360 seems particularly slow or sluggish, and it can sometimes help out with glitched achievements.

Xbox recommend you don't do this without their say so, but it cannot harm you're 360 in any way. However, you do need to be prepared for the effects. All of your game updates will be removed, so if you want to play certain games whilst connected to Xbox Live you will have to re-download the updates. Other than that, everything else remains intact, so you don't have to worry about your game saves, profiles, demos, videos etc.

Anyway, to clear the system cache you need to head to the Memory option in the System area of your dashboard. When you have found it, you need to highlight the HD icon and hit Y.

You then need to enter the following code: X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X. You will then see a message to confirm the system maintainance, which of course you should proceed with. Afterwards, the process is complete.
